Contactless Pay As You Go scheme to be introduced at Shepperton train station

Soon you will be able to tap-in and tap-out just as you do on London Underground

Shepperton commuters will be delighted to hear that the Government has revealed Shepperton as one of the 53 commuter town train stations that will soon be able to tap-in and tap-out when travelling.

A Department for Transport (DfT) spokesman said: “Customers will no longer have to worry about planning ahead to get the best prices or fumbling on their phones and wallets to find the right ticket - instead they can use their bank card or smart device to just tap in on the reader knowing they will automatically be guaranteed the best price available on the day of travelling.”

The tech will be installed and ready to use by the end of the year.

That proposal has now been dropped, which removes the biggest cloud that had been hanging over the local market.

When you look back at the average rents achieved in Shepperton over the last five years, from 2021 through to 2025, a clear pattern emerges. Shepperton saw extraordinary growth in rents as the market experienced a period of exceptional pressure post pandemic, yet in the last 12 months, is now settling into something far more measured.

As we enter a new year, many local homeowners are facing a familiar question. Should they bring their Shepperton home to market in January, or wait until the late spring?
