FITNESS FOR ALL THE FAMILY

Fitness ideas for all the family at home

Our Sales Director, David Long, has shared how he and his family are making sure they are exercising enough during the lockdown.

'Our family is very active anyway, my two sons play football, have swimming lessons and belong to an athletics club. On top of that, my wife is an avid runner and has been training for the London Marathon and I have been getting ready to compete in some local triathlons. Exercise is a big part of our family's life, we were keen to carry on exercising in some way during this lockdown.

Our day of exercise starts at 9am every weekday morning with the excellent Joe Wicks. This is ideal for children, parents and even grandparents. The energy Joe puts in to each session is contagious and my two boys love joining in. It is a good workout for my wife and I too.

My wife discovered dance classes with 'Strictly Come Dancing' judge Oti Mabuse, a dance class aimed at children is available in the mornings with music and dance themes from your children's favourite films, including the Lion King, Harry Potter, Minions, Spider-Man and Moana. An evening class is also available which is aimed at the 'parents'.

A more calming activity, for those days where everything is a bit intense, we have discovered Yoga with Cosmic Kids on Youtube. Again, a great one for all the family, where the children's favourite stories are brought to life through yoga.

As the weather has been so good we have made the most of the garden. My boys are quite competitive, (I am not sure where they get it from) so setting up simple tasks of what is the longest tennis rally can they manage or can they kick the football through the steps on a ladder, have kept them occupied; getting fresh air and keeping fit.
