Landlord - "We are able to ensure my Grandmother continues to receive the best care"

Our latest Landlord profile is an amazing story. Having owned her property for 60 years, she did not want to sell her home. Thankfully she didn't have to.

"Our family had to make a really difficult decision when my Grandmother needed to receive full time support and a care home became the only viable option. None of the immediate family lived near Shepperton, and the thought of her being in a new environment with no family nearby was a worrying prospect. My Grandmother and I had always had a close relationship and I wanted her to be closer to me at this challenging time. We made the decision to move my Grandmother down to me on the south coast, to a beautiful care home with views across the sea. Unfortunately, with her assets and savings over the Government threshold, she was deemed to be self-funded. This is a familiar story for so many families. We were then faced with the reality that we would likely need to sell her home to fund her care. This was a heart breaking consideration and one my Grandmother begged us not to pursue. She had lived in the house since the early sixties with my Grandfather, who had passed some 10 years before, and raised my mother there. As a child I had also spent many summers with my Grandparents, and it was a home away from home. We considered our options carefully, conscious that her pension and savings would not cover the rising cost of care for long, again a troubling conclusion effecting many families in this position. We eventually decided that renovating the property and renting it out made the most sense. Newboulds & Co took to time to understand our situation and what was at stake. They found us an incredible tenant, and with the consistent income of rental earnings, we are able to ensure my Grandmother continues to receive the best care and hold onto a home that has so much sentimental meaning for the whole family."

A local family now occupy this fantastic family home in Shepperton. Our client has owned the property for 60 years and we are delighted we could assist in some way to give her peace of mind that the property is in good hands with a new family making memories.
