THAMES VALLEY CYCLE PATH

THAMES VALLEY CYCLE PATH

A fantastic cycle path on Shepperton's doorstep

Living in Shepperton gives you access to the glorious Thames Valley Cycle Path.

The route leads from the city of London, following the Thames out into the countryside on to Oxford. The whole route is 99 miles, so we have picked some highlights accessible from Shepperton.

Richmond Park is 2500 acres and home to to a number of deer as well as a variety of rare species including fungi, birds, beetles, bats, grasses and wildflowers. A National Nature Reserve, it's London's largest Site of Special Scientific Interest and a European Special Area of Conservation.

Travelling in the opposite direction past Thorpe Park and Staines, you can climb Coopers Hill. Here, you can leave your bike in the enclosure at the RAF War Memorial and climb the tower for a view of Runnymede, where the Magna Carta was signed.

From here, cycle to Windsor and Eton, pass Eton Dorney where the route becomes traffic-free. Here, labelled on the map as route 4, carries on West and route 5 turns North.

For those wishing to travel further afield and keen on a challenge, the Chiltern Hills mark the toughest section of the route but also one of the most impressive. This lovely stretch of countryside is a joy to cycle through with rolling green English countryside.

We will be sure to make the most of this fabulous path located on our doorstep. Share your pics of your adventures along the Thames Valley Cycle Path.
