Landlord - 'It's lovely to rent our property to local families and one day pass onto my son'

A popular reason amongst our clients for letting their property is to secure their child's future whilst providing a home to local families in the meantime.

"When the time came for the family to move I decided that the house was in a such a great residential location, ideal for schools and local amenities that it would be a great opportunity to keep it. Knowing that there are very few family homes that come available to rent in the Shepperton area it would be a great investment to keep and rent out so that other families could enjoy. We were lucky to be in a position to be able to keep the property which is not always the case for many people and it’s lovely to have a family home that is always rented and be able to pass the property onto my son who grew up in the house and attended the local schools when the time comes. We have now rented the house for nearly 9 years, all tenancies have been to families with children attending the local schools."

Our client hadn't bought this property as an 'investment', this was their home. Now other families are enjoying the space and it's location and maybe one day our clients son again!

If you have ever thought about selling your Shepperton home, you will know how tempting it can be to stretch the asking price. After all, it is your biggest tax-free asset, and those extra few thousand pounds can feel like a sensible cushion. Yet in the Shepperton property market, ambition can sometimes cost more than it earns.

As the Shepperton property market shifts, more homeowners are facing the decision of when and by how much to adjust their asking prices. The choice can feel difficult, but in today's climate, it is often the difference between attracting a buyer or sitting unsold for months.

The Renters' Rights Bill has officially become law, marking a significant shift in the private rented sector. This new legislation brings important changes for both landlords and tenants, and understanding these updates is crucial for everyone in our local property community.

If you’re planning to buy a home soon, you might assume the best place to start is on the property portals, Rightmove, Zoopla, or OnTheMarket. But the truth is, the savviest buyers are seeing homes long before they ever appear online. Here’s why registering with an agent puts you one step ahead.
